About
Bridging the Water Adaptation Gap is a five year (September 2022 to December 2027) international research project investigating how vulnerable agricultural regions may develop sustainable adaptation strategies to address water issues exacerbated by climate change. Regions have been selected in Canada, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay for similarities in their reliance on agriculture and their unique vulnerabilities .
Project Goals
This project will integrate perspectives of diverse stakeholders to create new ways of working together to adapt to climate change water stressors. Strategies will be sought for best practices of sustainable adaptation to reduce risk of climate change on water resources, and to reduce risks associated with drought, severe storms, and floods, for strengthening resilience and accruing benefits to individuals, groups, communities, agriculture and other sectors, orders of government, and the natural environment. The goal is to seek more sustainable water adaptation pathways for the regions.
